TLC Receives $20,000 in Grant Funding

The 2011-2012 school year at TLC will nearly be fully funded through a series of three grants/gifts that have been received.  TLC received a $10,000 gift from a family on our Middletown Campus, $5000 from a Louisville Metro Government grant, $4000 from an educational foundation, and a $1000 grant from the Woosley Foundation of Louisville.  TLC's budget for the current year is $23,000.  It is wonderful to know the program has such wonderful support in the community.

TLC 50

The Learning Center @ The Valley provides educational assistance to children who attend public schools listed as "failing" under the federal No Child Left Behind Act.  These are at-risk students who are struggling with basic classes and need help to succeed.  To support TLC @ The Valley consider being a part of the TLC 50.  We are looking for groups or individuals who will contribute $50 a month for eight months to help cover our program expenses.  Please contact TLC Director Joann Harris for more information about becoming a part of the TLC 50.

The Learning Center @ The Valley is a part of The Valley's overall mission to have a Kingdom impact on the lives of people in our community.  We are committed to serving God by serving people.  At this time we are ready to serve up to 25 children and anticipate that number growing by the end of the current school year.  TLC is under the guidance of Director JoAnn Harris who helped get TLC off the ground and keeps it moving forward.

Children enrolled in the program are given homework assistance by trained volunteers and by professional tutors in settings that are conducive to learning in small group settings.

TLC Volunteers
